CSSP Orienteering Competition - May 2018
Miss Lawn took the Y5 orienteering team to compete against children from local schools on Wednesday after school. The boys and girls competed brilliantly, giving their absolute all in, the very warm conditions. Miss Lawn was very impressed by their behaviour and attitude. They have been well trained over recent months by Miss Moss from Holy Cross (thank you!) and the team finished in a highly creditable 11th place out of 21 schools. A special word of praise must go to the pair of Jacob N and William who completed the course in an outstanding 19 minutes, the fastest time out of all the competitors there – a notable acheivement. Thank you to Miss Lawn for taking them along.

CSSP Girls’ Football League Competition – Holy Cross
The St Mary’s girls’ football squad travelled to Holy Cross to play a number of fixtures against local schools in a mini-league after school yesterday. Despite three defeats, two of them very narrow 1-0 losses, the girls had great fun and played with smiles on their faces all the way through. The St Mary’s team offers a lot of promise for the future – with the team made up mainly of Y4s and Y5s. Well done girls and well done to the parents who came along to support.
Football Match - Ollerton Cup
The St Mary’s football team played at home against St Oswald’s in a very exciting fixture last night after school. Both teams played some excellent football. St Mary’s emerged as 3-1 winners and now go through to the next round of the cup. Well done St Mary’s and well done mums and dads for supporting and to Mr Hodge for coaching them.
Cross Country Results 2018
Well done to all the boys and girls from Ys 3-6 who represented St Mary’s last Saturday morning in competition with runners from all around Chorley at Astley Park. They were all brilliant. They showed grit and determination just to complete the race; it was a brutal course and a particularly cold morning! Although the running conditions were quite good, parts of the park were very boggy, especially the long and gruelling hill climb towards the end of the race. St Mary’s did very well. The Y5/6 girls’ team finished in fourth place overall as did the Y5/6 boys’ team. The 3 / 4 girls’ team finished in 8th . Congratulations to all of our runners and thanks to parents who were there in great number to support. Thanks especially to Mrs Blackwell for all her help in training the children and for sorting out vest numbers on the day! Thanks once again to Gemma Stokes and all her team at the Chorley Schools Sports Partnership for getting up at the crack of dawn putting on such a great event for the children
Hockey Tournament - Wednesday 15th March 2018

Well done to those involved and to the parents who supported them.
Dodgeball Tournament - Monday 12th March 2018
All the St Mary's dodgeball team played terrifically well and grew in confidence as the tournament progressed. Miss Lawn was proud of their enthusiasm and behaviour. Well done to all the players.
Football Tournament - Wednesday 21st February 2018
Mr Hodge took the St Mary's football team to play in a tournament organised by Chorley Football Club and Chorley Borough Council at Holy Cross.
In a very close game, in which our players put in a fantastic performance, St Mary's hit the post and the cross bar but couldn't find the back of the net. The outcome was decided by the one goal from Duke Street. Congratulations to Duke Street but well done to our team.
Gymnastics - Wednesday 31st January 2018
On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 4 gymnastic team of Ella, Phoebe, and Frazer went to Clayton Green Sports Centre to compete in the Chorley Y4 CSSP gymnastics competition – unfortunately their teammate, Thomas L was ill and could not make it. They competed against gymnasts from all over Chorley in a vault exercise and a floor routine. Ella was judged to have received the most points for St Mary’s.
The judges were very impressed with the efforts of all the children, and all the children all said that they had thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well done gymnasts and thanks Miss McCluskey for coaching them.
Cricket - Monday 29th January 2018
Mr Hodge took the St Mary’s cricket team to play in a mini- tournament at Albany Academy earlier this week. They played two games. They won the first against a talented team from Sacred Heart but were beaten in the second by a very strong Balshaw Lane team.
Well done to the team of Charles F, Oliver, Jonathon, Martha C, Erin, Syd, Ozy and Frankie for their effort and skill. Mr Hodge commented on their very good and very sporting behaviour.
Thanks to Mr Hodge for giving up his time to take them along.
