As we return after half term and begin a new month, St Mary's will be taking part in National Non-Fiction November 2026, an annual celebration organised by the Federation of Children's Book Groups to promote the joy, value and importance of reading non-fiction for pleasure.

National Non-Fiction November highlights the fact that reading is about much more than stories and novels. Factual texts help children develop curiosity, learn about the world around them, pursue their interests and build knowledge across a wide range of subjects. Research from the National Literacy Trust shows that over half of children and young people read non-fiction and that it can support learning, wellbeing and engagement with the wider world. This year the theme is 'Reading is an Adventure', the annual event encourages children to explore, question, investigate and discover through high-quality factual texts. [literacyhive.org], [fcbg.org.uk]
